I will send what you ned next week:)
Yes, I enjoy all cind of flying. Even as a passenger in the helicopters flying offshore to work (espessially when flying home:) As you say, trike is another way of flying. Not comparable at freedom and view. But it get thrown all over in turbulence and bad weather, then GA aircrafts is more usable. Hope you get a job when finished with your license. My friend flew for some years local in his 206, now he is flying an amphib Cessna Caravan in Dubai, having a great time.
I am working with auomation process systems on oilrigs in the northsea.
It's a good job that I enjoy, and best of all, I work 14 days and have 28 days off. All year. So plenty of time for hobbies (that I have lots of)
Regards
Frode
As the doctor that grounded me is my nearest neighbour, I had to stop flying. At least for a while;)
Would love to vistit SA somtime. I love travelling, and am sure I will set my legs on SA ground sometime. As a scubadiver Mexico is tempting.
I will send you pictures as soon as I am back home on tuesday. I can also scan and send you the partlist I got from Aeros if you want.
Do you enjoy flying the cessna? I have been flying a bit with a friend in a Cessna 206 on floats. Also a few trips in a 182.
So long:)
Thanks Diego, unfortunately the DTA is not mine. My trike shares a hanger with it and I can only drooool over it, but then I am perfectly happy with my lovely Air Creation Clipper!!!.
Hi Diego! Sorry for not answering earlier, I didn't get any notice on email for a reason.
The season has been a pain in the ass. Mid june I god grounded by my doctor as something happened with my health. Dont know what it iss, but has been dizzy since:(
Anyway, I started flying again the week before I went to work(two weeks ago) and had some beautiful trips then. Hope to get a lot of hours airborne this autumn.
Are you still interested in pictures of my brake system on the Aeros trike?
Any good flying lately?
Regards, Frode
Frode! Hi how you've been!? lots of flying around these days?? love this picture by the way!
I'm thinking about asking aeros for the kit of the rear hydraulic breaks. But it seems its not that easy as asking for the spare parts and assembling it, I've seen at your old pictures and apparently you have added the breaks after having bought the trike, is this correct? what was your experience with this?
Thanks a lot,
Diego
Hi Diego!
Not much flying I am afraid. A new farmer now owns my field, and there has been some discussions before we agree on therms. I also had to wait a long time on a new canvas for my hangar. So I just got ready with everything last weekend. No I have to spend 14 days at work offshore before heading home to some (hopefully) great flying.
Yes, I changed from frontbrake to hydraulic rearbrakes before last season. It makes a huge difference, espesially on wet grass.
It was not a difficult job. You have to check if you'r wheels are made for fitting disc's. (you have to drill and make threads yourself) Then you have to fit the brackets and callipers, the handbrake valve and the pump/lever on the fork. As your fork is made for the frontbrake, you have to do some mod's to it.
If you want to, I can send you the "parts-list" I got from Aeros and attach some pictures of the mounting and mod's I did. But you have to wait until I'm back home early june.
I am thinking about buying an aeros profi TL. what is your max cruze with that wing (MPH)? have you heard about a new 12.5 metter wing from aeros? I might wait for it to to come to the US before I buy anything.
right now I fly a 13.5 northwing, it will only cruze at 60 MPH. so that profi TL at 14.5, is faster and will climb better...
wow ! those are some great looking aeros trikes ! I've always been a aeros fan, I have a still 17, when I first soloed....
how do you guys like those BMW engines? I just bought a (used) verner engine. its alot like the BMW, (boxer type, twin cylinder, 80hp, 5,500rpm range).
hey, has anyone heard of a new profi TL--"12 metter". I might just buy one. right now I have a north wing GT-4, nice wing,(65mph max). but I miss my aeros !
Hi!
The piece of wood and tape on the frontstrut is just for keeping the bar from touching the windscreen. Have removed it now as it wasn't any problem. The other thing, higher up on the strut is a bracket for my handheld Garmin Legend GPS.
Yes, the net in front of the radiator is useful, keeping grass and dirt away.
It is fixed to the intake with small plastic ties. Works well.
I have uploaded a picture showing the instrument panel. The switches for light and strobes is at the left.
How long was your Easter trip? You're lucky to have a buddy flying with. Really miss that.
Frode
Hi Diego!
I share your opinion on the Aeros trike. It is good looking, rigid and a pleasure to fly!
I changed to a TL 6 months ago (the one on my profile picture)
The differense from the old Profi is the speed. The TL with winglets is about 25% faster.
Regarding the handling, if you remove your winglets your TL feels much like the old Profi. I actually fly a lot without the winglets. That is when flying local around the mountains due to lighter handling and slower speed. When flying longer trips I always use the winglets, it is more stable, faster and better in turbulence. Looks cool too:) The classic profi is more suitable for unexperiensed pilots, more forgiving at landings etc.
When using the el-trim on the old wing, I could use 100% of it's movement, fastest trim was about 105kmh. With the TL I use just about 1/3 of the movement from the rear position. If trimming all forward it flies too fast, I guess near to 160kmh. Is it the same with yours? I feel that 130kmh is the fastest comfortabel trim speed.
Yes I changed from the front drum brake to hydraulic rear brakes when I changed to the faster wing, and the differense is huge. Espesially on wet grass. My field is pretty short, only 160 meters. When landing two-up on wet field, I often had a problem stopping. Now I dont. So I recomend changing to rearbrakes if you need them.
I am also in progress of fitting a parachute. And I have made a larger screen to avoid the winds wich can be tiering when flying long distances. When flying alone I always felt that the back-rest on the pilot's seat would "flip back" when climbing steep. So I made a support of tubes that is useful. I will upload a photo on my profile if you are interested.
