Arrived on Ibo Island after one of the most challenging flights we have ever undertaken.
Crossing the Zambezi River Delta, it spreads out for hundreds of miles along the coast with
no infrastructure to speak of. Most of the airfields that we had planned to land on were over
grown and some like Angoshe had not seen another plane for months prior to our landing.
On each landing we are swamped by locals in the hundreds gathering round our small flying machines.
On landing at Pemba for refueling one of the local pilots warned us about the windy turbulent conditions
landing on the islands which we brushed off lightly... the flight from Pemba to Ibo was one of the most turbulent of the trip and on landing the runway would just not stand still....but Tjeerd and I both put down the trikes safely. We are really exhausted after three days of intense flying over really challenging terrain with fuel being very dificult to come by...
